Digital Maps
Digital maps are used in various “GEO-Service” applications. They are used for visualisation, by showing navigation routes, locating branch offices, vehicles or persons for planning and monitoring processes or simply traffic information in one mapping window. Positions of buildings and business premises can also be localised. Endangered species and their natural habitat or demographic data of communities can be transferred into area zones.
Maps also serve as calculation basis: vector graphics can be pinned with information, to be searched for specific algorithms afterwards in order to achieve excellent results (route lengths, lowest energy needs, route without traffic jams, best route using existing resources, etc.).
VIOM offers maps of Germany, Europe (also new EU member states and Eastern Europe), South America, the United States of America, Canada, and now also of Saudi-Arabia, Oman and the United Arabic Emirates. VIOM-maps are offered in both, vector or bitmap formats always including corresponding display programmes and modules, depending on your preferred technology.
VIOM also produces special map layers, to be used for intermodal networks, shortsea shipping or ferry traffic etc.
Utilisation Techniques
VIOM-Plus: fast and cross-platform compatible. VIOM-Software uses client rendering. Instead of pictures, high-performing vector-based data is being transferred. Additionally only sophisticated compression technologies are being used.Additionally only by applying sophisticated compression technologies we are able to continuously guarantee you a permanent and fast transmission of reliable up-to-date information. Integration of mapping data into the software takes place via Windows-applications or Active-X Technology. For high-performance web applications for intranet/ internet, integration takes places using Java technology (applet).
